- This cover has been found with various degrees of "darkness" on the cover, most noticeable around Spawn's mouth. These do not appear to be separate printings, but rather, natural fluctuations in the ink during the print run. Pictured is a "light" version (top) and a "dark" version (bottom).

Nailed to a cross in the desert, Spawn is forced to listen to the Violator's ramblings. While torturing Spawn, the demon discusses his relationship to the hellspawns. Elsewhere, Marc Rosen receives a visit from a man named Cogliostro.
