Things you'd like to see in a new Spawn cartoon?

Post by jimmyzee »

A few years back McFarlane almost finished a new Spawn cartoon entirely separate from the now-debatably-classic HBO cartoon. If McFarlane somehow decided to either (a) continue the HBO cartoon or (b) start a new cartoon, what story elements would you all like to see in it?

I would personally like to see some more villains used, especially Redeemer. It would have been interesting if after the ending of Spawn 3 on HBO, Jason Wynn ended up ironically becoming the Redeemer to fight the very creature he had a hand in creating.

It would also be cool to get past all of the standard origin stuff for once and actually Spawn travelling around and doing things, something the HBO series, especially Season 2, didn't have enough of. It would be great to see Spawn out of the alleys, even out of New York City, and maybe having some stories from the comics played out in animation. I would really like to see Spawn's encounter with Eddy & Andy Frank in Alabama done, as well as the stories "Three Uses of the Knife," "Black Cat Bones," and "Cautionary Tales," as they make for good standalone stories.

Unfortunately the 'Return of Billy Kincaid' story arc wouldn't quite work in the HBO cartoon, as Spawn didn't compulsively kill Kincaid for his return to have the proper thematic resonance. McFarlane would have to do it in a rebooted cartoon, or use another villain Spawn killed to fill in the role Kincaid played in the story.

My final suggestion would be to introduce Nyx. Nyx is one of my favorite characters in Spawn, as she acts as both a relatable human figure but is also tied into the world of magic and celestial beings that Spawn is a part of. It would be amazing to see her go through Hell with Al's stolen power as she did in the comic, and her relationship with Spawn could be fleshed out more in a cartoon.

all great suggestions. Personally, I'd just love to see the show on the air, I'm not too picky about where they go with it.
