What is and isn't canon?

There are a few little things I have been wondering about certain issues that make me wonder if they are canon, and if so, where do these fit?
Firstly, the Spawn Fan Editions: The narrative is Malbolgia telling one of the Phlebiac brothers about how Al Simmons isn't really doing so hot as a Spawn, and tells him of his favorite Spawn, Nordik the Norse Spawn. The story takes place before issue 50, i figure, but is it canon???
Also, the 3 issue Spawn: The Impaler series. How do they fit into the grand scheme of things? Vlad mentions Al and Clown at one point in the third issue, so is it taking place during Al's time or is it just in some alternate timeline?
The one-shot Spawn: Blood and Shadows has also got me scratching my head on placement in the series.
And lastly... The Image United cross-over event. This unfinished tale of all the Image Universe villains attacking together sounded super cool and i was stoked for it. But it's been 3 years since they last came out with an issue and it seems unlikely that it will ever truly be concluded. McFarlane has said that he shoulders blame for this. BUT to the point: He stated that the Omega Spawn used in Image United is a certain someone who died and didn't fully agree with how they used said character. Because of this disagreement by Mcfarlane, seeing as the entire Spawniverse is his invention and his property, it sounds like United is a raped version of his ideas. And if it really does count as canon, where does it fit into the timeline?
Input or feedback would be boss!
