Hi MAdds5566, welcome aboard, I'm glad you enjoy the site. I think you would be just fine reading only the core series 1-221. The spin-offs and crossovers vary greatly in quality and sometimes don't fall into continuity.

The new Spawn: Origins collections are a great way to go. They come as both hardcovers and softcovers and they come out on a regular basis. Enjoy!

Hello fellow Spawn fans. I've actually clicked this site for years and this is the first time i've noticed there's a forum section. *doh!*

I've been collecting Spawn since issue 1...took a break during the mid #110-125 issues...then came back...took another year break and now i've been steadily back collecting Spawn. Oddly enough, I never did stop or missed an issue while collecting the other Spawn spinoff books as they came out ("Dark Ages", Curse of, Sam & Twitch, Hellspawn, Undead, even the "KISS" run when Angel Medina did the artwork in there.)

I actually think Spawn reads better in chunks of 20 and 30 issues so the breaks I had were ok. Pricey to get caught up but ok.

It's cool to see Spawn getting some heat again with the special cover themed issues. Still been tough getting all the new limited sketch variants and 2nd printings. Need about a dozen still.

Curious to see what Mcfarlane has up his sleeves for issue #225.

Welcome aboard Vikingspawn!

I agree, I've always preferred reading the issues in chunks, they seem to work better that way and I find that I'm less critical. Of course it also means I'm usually way behind, but that's ok.
