Spawn Fan Editions

I have a question about the Spawn fan editions.

Were they randomly put in the over street fan magazines? So when you bought it you wouldn't know what cover you would get? If that's the case how common were the gold and silver (platinum) covers? Was it 1 in 4 etc?

I'm honestly not sure how the gold/platinum versions were distributed. I do know that there was only a platinum edition for issue #2, and that they are incredibly rare.

Ahh I thought it would be the case. I managed to buy a gold set off ebay yesterday for not too much coming from Australia though so hope it doesnt get too damaged.

Check this link out sealed overstreet magazine 17 with fan edition #2 I might buy a few see if I strike it lucky!
