Ben Nakadai

Ben Nakadai was born and raised in California. His grandparents emigrated to the United States and raised their children to assimilate into American culture. As such, Ben doesn't speak Japanese and he has never been to Japan. Because of this, it came as a bit of a shock when his business firm selected him to be their representative at a construction site in Awaji, Japan. He was sent to make a determination as to the feasibility of recovering any antiquities uncovered during construction.

While in his hotel, Ben felt lonely and - unable to reach his pregnant wife back home, decided to visit the hotel bar. It was there that he met a man named Mykoto (Mammon in disguise) who told Ben his family name is well known in that part of Japan and then recounted a tale of Ben's ancestor, Lord Isanagi Nakadai.

Ben left the bar before the end of the story and the next day at the site, he discovered a mystical box. Curious, Ben opened the box and unleashed several lost souls. Spawn intervened and leds the souls to a final end, but Ben wasn't so lucky. He discovered that Mykoto arranged for his trip personally and intended for him to find and open the box for some reason. Though the other souls were rescued by Spawn, Ben's was trapped by Mykoto to forever roam the halls of his hotel.

Bernard Simmons

Growing up, Al Simmons' home life was filled with abuse and neglect, much of which from the hand of his father Bernard. As soon as Al was old enough, he left his family to join the military and never looked back.

Throughout the rest of his life, Bernard was a sad and isolated man. He and his wife were trapped in their house for decades by Mammon until Al finally returned home. When he did, Bernard was horrified to see what his son had become. He regretted not warning his sons about the "Man in White" his grandfather had warned him about in his journal.

Shortly after Al left once again, Mammon arrived with Bernard's granddaughter Morana, who quickly drank the blood of her sad grandfather.

Years later in failing health and neglected by his alcoholic wife, Bernard's soul became an item of interest to Hell. The fallen angel Belial sought to use Bernard as a way of manipulating Al, but forseeing this, Al visited his father one last time as he passed into the afterlife.

Together, Al led his father past a trap laid for him by Belial and escorted him to his point of judgement. Along the way, Bernard sought to reconcile with his son, but Al resisted.

Bill Winston
An estate lawyer who practiced law in the firm Bradford and Klein. He had a wife and kids, he volunteered at his church, and he killed himself after learning that Patient 47 had awoken. His life seemed perfect, so his suicide was very strange and unexpected.

An investigation into his death found that he had supported a number of important politicians and may have had ties to the Nortego Cartel. The Investigation also discovered that at the time of his death, there was only 1 bullet in his home and the chamber it was fired from was made of a metal not found on Earth.

As the investigation continued, the FBI began getting more and more pressure from politicians to close the case quickly and quietly. As it turned out, Bill was one of only a few people on earth who knew of Patient 47'strue identity. Knowing that it was only a matter of time until Jason Wynn had him killed, Winston committed suicide to save his family from pain.
